DUI

With jail overcrowding recently headlined as an issue in Skagit County, we thought it would be interesting to take a look into the role DUI arrests play in the filling of the Skagit County Jail. We found that a large percentage of those in the Skagit County Jail as of May 31, 2016 are in for DUI offenses or have recent DUI offenses on their record based on the jail’s online records.

According to these statistics, 31 percent of those in the Skagit County Jail or in there for DUI offenses or have recent DUI offenses on their record. At The Follman Agency, we counsel a great deal of clients who have been charged with DUI and we greatly value our role in the local community helping those dealing with alcohol addiction, so we take special interest in this issue.

We find this issue particularly damaging as DUIs not only negatively directly affect the community, but also play a role in troublesome overcrowding in the local jail. However, we are also confident that the right counseling can greatly reduce the number of DUIs in Skagit County, which will ultimately help end overcrowding of the Skagit County Jail.

“While DUIs are what will frequently lead to those suffering with alcohol addiction to face jail time and seek treatment,” said James Follman, Chemical Dependency Professional from The Follman Agency. “What starts as a personal, singular problem ends up becoming a larger issue which ultimately takes a toll on the entire community if those with the issue don’t get the counseling they need.”

If you believe you, or a loved one, may be suffering from alcohol addiction in Skagit County, The Follman Agency can help. We have helped those in the community with their issues with alcohol for more than 30 years and offer a large number of programs that can help.
